In 2014, Hancock County determined that the existing youth court building was far too small for its case load. To fulfill the current needs and plan future needs, the County hired the RCM Architects & Redstone Architects team in 2022.
Redstone provided judicial design consultation services throughout the project timeline. The main goal was to design for separating juvenile court, juvenile probation court, and adult probation. The building’s program accommodates additional space and offices for anticipated future growth. The building layout included 4 hearing rooms, 2 court rooms, a drug testing room, 30 office staff, and 10 meeting/conference rooms.
The Center houses the Juvenile Court, Probate Court, Juvenile Probation offices, Adult Probation, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), Family & Children First Council, Great Lakes Guardianship Services Board, and the Domestic Relations Court. The County took over the building in December and began moving in January. A grand opening was held on May 2, 2025.
