Project Size: 33,000 sq.ft. | Keeping in step with revitalization activities in Rivertown on Detroit's riverfront, the United States Coast Guard's Command Complex has undergone major consolidation and replacement of its industrial and administrative facilities. Formerly located in six buildings scattered about the site, operations have been consolidated into a three-story, 33,000 square foot structure, carefully planned to integrate the many diverse activities of the base. Building materials were carefully selected due to the harsh riverfront weather conditions and the variety of base functions. The result is an impact-resistant, modern and efficient structure designed to reflect the new image of the United States Coast Guard. (1988) |
