Project Size: 115,000 sq.ft.

The School of Management and Student Activity Building at Lawrence Technological University in Southfield, MI is a free standing, three-level structure providing a center for academic and professional interaction. Located for maximum accessibility to other campus buildings, it serves multiple functions. The 115,000 sq. ft. structure houses an 18,000 sq. ft. central library, classrooms, cafeteria, bookstore, administrative offices, and a photography laboratory. The skylights and clerestory windows were incorporated into the design to provide a link between the outside, below-grade and interior spaces, and to reduce day-time lighting costs. As a result of the design of the clerestory windows the library in this building, located 20 feet below-grade, was one of the spaces that benefited most from this design.

With its striking angular design, sloping skylights and sculptured grounds, this 115,000 sq. ft. School of Management and Student Activity Building is the focal point of this technically-oriented college campus.
